Semiconductor Quantum Bits
Beschrijving
Semiconductor quantum bits represent a promising platform for practical quantum information. In this course, you will become familiar with semiconductor devices. You will first learn what a quantum dot is, how it can be fabricated, and how it leads to quantized energy levels. You will then learn how electrical voltages can be used to tune the energy levels, enabling to load single electrons, and to define spin qubits. We will then continue by explaining how quantum gates can be realized and we will consider the challenges and opportunities in scaling spin qubits. In this course you will be introduced to foundational concepts, such as two-level systems, the Rabi model, the Bloch sphere representation, as well as device and materials aspects such as semiconductor heterostructures, and quantum dots.
