History of Mathematics

Mathematics started with Euclid's elements some 2300 years ago. How did it lead up to the seven Millennium Prize problems that we face today, and why did it take 1800 years before people even invented the = sign? You would think that mathematical truths are absolute and indisputable, but the history of math is rife with controversies and debates. In this course you will see how mathematical concepts evolve over time, to give you a perspective on what you learn in our Delft BSc mathematics program.
